As a youngster, I remember having high hopes of him being president, especially as I was distressed by the slaying of Bobby just a short time after I shook hands with him during a stop in the Midwest as part of his campaign whistle-stop train tour en route to L.A. Apparently I didn't know about the Chappaquiddick incident at the time, let alone its significance. My views of him certainly soured over time, to the point that it's clear he's no hero to the unborn. I agree with Dave on hoping that he repented of his ways in his dying days.
